Carnival…highest turnout so far!

Dry weather helped ensure that over 1,700 people attended this year’s Rixton with Glazebrook Carnival where a wide range of attractions for all ages helped create a fun day, with great performances by talented local singers and dancers in the main marquee.

The Carnival Committee thank all the performers as well as the local businesses and groups who set up and ran stalls. Local groups have benefitted, not only financially, but also in terms of raising their profile to attract new members.

The committee would also like to thank the numerous volunteers who gave their time to help set up and close down the site, man the entrances and attractions, serve the public and help create a really enjoyable day. The more helpers that take part, the greater the opportunity for all to experience the variety of attractions on offer around the village green.

In addition to volunteers, the Carnival could not run without the financial backing received – currently it costs between £4,000 and £5,000 to stage the Carnival. For 2017 the Carnival Committee wish to thank the Parish Council, Hamilton Davies Trust, Party Delights and the Rotary Club of Irlam for their support in 2017. As in previous years, any funds raised by the Carnival Committee from the event will be put back into running next year’s event; providing good value, family entertainment.
