Taking the ‘Out’ in Scouting!
Hollins Green Scouts have taken the ‘out’ in ‘scouting’ quite literally over the past few months and enjoyed the outdoors… rain or shine.
Cubs have worked towards their Personal safety badge with visits to Warrington’s Police Museum where fun was had sitting in the police car and on the motorbike, as well as dressing up in capes and helmets. They also visited Birchwood Fire station where they all learnt about how to keep themselves and their families safe at home, as well as having a go at holding the water hose as it gushed out water. Even the leaders were excited by this!
The Cubs naturalist badge is now complete following their visits to the Rixton Claypits Nature Reserve and having been given the opportunity to see the sites changes over the seasons.
Cubs have also gained various levels of Paddle Sports with fun and kayaking skills being developed. Some have even had a go at capsizing their kayak.
At a sleepover at the Scout Centre, Cubs were encouraged to develop their independence and self care skills; they prepped, cooked, washed up and helped each other. All fantastic useful life skills!
