Winter Walk blows away the cobwebs!

Keen to get out and about following the festive season, 78 people and several of their four-legged friends joined a Guided Walk on Sunday 5th January.

Safely led by  guide John Eccles, walkers were able to enjoy the rural scenery of Rixton Claypits and Rixton Moss. Many of those taking part said that they were discovering lovely off-road paths in the parish that they had not been on before, despite them being on their doorstep! John said: “I was really surprised, but pleased, with such a great turn out. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and people were having a good chat along the way as well as taking in the scenery.”

Following the walk, a warming soup and home-made cakes were enjoyed at Rixton Methodist Church Hall, courtesy of the Rixton-with-Glazebrook Community Plan Group.

For those who would like to explore rural Rixton for themselves then various self-guided walk leaflets can be downloaded from the Hamilton Davies Trust website by clicking https://hamiltondavies.org.uk/library/
