Rain didn’t stop the 2019 Garden Safari!

Eight garden owners, in this year’s Rixton-with-Glazebrook Safari, successfully battled with constant rain leading up to the event to get their gardens looking their best for visitors.

Despite persistent rain on the day, 61 adults and children donned their wet-weather gear to thoroughly enjoy the day, which comprised of eight open gardens, an art exhibition, home-made refreshments and some lively tunes from Cadishead Band. Visitors were wowed by the various gardens of all sizes and designs and took away lots of ideas. Many visitors commented on the warm welcome they received at each garden and the sense of community within the parish.

Organiser, Mandy Eccles said: “It is always a lovely event for both visitors and gardeners whatever the weather! I cannot thank the garden owners enough for their generosity and hard work, as without them the event would not take place. Visitors travelled from different areas in Warrington, Cheshire, Irlam and Cadishead. One lady told me that there was only one thing that would bring her out in such weather and that was a garden event.”

Adding an extra bit of fun to the occasion and making visitors smile were the wonderful Disney themed scarecrows. A first since the Garden Safari started in 2010 was a wonderful model railway display in one of the gardens.
