PCSOs out and about in the area

Your local PCSOs attended the Rixton with Glazebrook Carnival in June offering crime prevention advice and literature. We were joined by Pathways to Recovery Warrington who provide an integrated drug and alcohol treatment service in addition to an education service. Displays included one to raise awareness of New Pyschoactive Substances (NPS), what these substances are and what signs parents/guardians can look for due to the increasing use of such substances by youngsters. NPS’s were formerly referred to as Legal Highs. We were also assisted during the day by a local Volunteer Police Cadet, they were able to tell people about the 12 month Programme which is available for youngsters between the ages of 15 and 18 years old. Further details on the Volunteer Police Cadets are available on the Cheshire Constabulary website, or email [email protected]

Residents are urged to remember to secure/lock windows & doors to their property, including outbuildings & garages. Secure external doors even when you are at home. If rooms need to remain ventilated at least use the security measures on modern windows which allows them to be locked whilst letting some air in. Additionally due to the darker nights, please consider a timer for your interior lights and also outdoor lighting, a house in darkness is an empty and vulnerable home. You should also remove valuables from view, at home or in your vehicle. Ensure your car keys are not left on view, are kept safe and out of sight. Never leave your vehicle unattended with the keys in the ignition and engine running – you risk becoming a victim of an opportunist thief and your insurance company may not pay out for your claim. Shed alarms are also recommended. Residents can register their bicycle frames, and other property, for free and securely on the national property database Immobilise (www.immobilise.com).

Residents can sign up for Cheshire Police Alert which is a community messaging system, visit www.cheshirepolicealert.co.uk. By registering with Cheshire Police Alert you can receive news and appeals, local crime information and crime prevention advice – direct to you as an e-mail, mobile text or voice message.
