Thank you Pete!

Having contributed to the community as Chair of the Rixton-with-Glazebrook Parish Plan Group for 7 years Pete Higson decided to retire from the role.

On behalf of the Parish we extend our heart felt thanks to Pete for his endless hours of volunteering and for all the work he has done on behalf of the group and its many projects over the years. Not only has he steered the group throughout, but he has been hands on and involved in many of the projects, activities and fundraising events, helping with litter picking, the Village Shop, Parish Carnival and much more. Pete’s passion for improving where he lives is admirable and an inspiration to other volunteers.

Pete said: “After 7 years of being the Chair of the Rixton with Glazebrook Parish Plan Group I have decided to step down from the Chair position. I am not doing this with sadness but joy! It has been a memorable and exciting experience; together we have achieved so much and made a difference to the village. My time as Chair has been really enjoyable, my wife Joyce and myself have made many friends and acquaintances, enjoyed many events and hope this will continue in the future. It has really enlightened me how a group of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers can achieve so much. I have felt very proud and honored to have been part of the Parish Plan journey and would like to say a very big thank you to all involved for supporting me.”

The Parish Plan Group has come to the end of its 5yr plan. Moving forward the group has decided to change its name to the Community Plan Group, to avoid any confusion with the Parish Council, which has been the case in the past. The Community Plan Group is currently formulating a 3yr plan to continue to help improve the parish and support its services and activities.

Pete added: “I would like to continue being a member of the steering group for the newly named Community Plan Group and support it in other ways. There is still more to be done in the village and always will be, we can’t sit back on our laurels and say we did this or we achieved that, we have got some big walls to climb in the future and we all have to work together and support each other to get over or round these walls.”

The Community Plan group has nominated a new Chair, Andy Eaves, and has a Treasurer and Secretary in place as well as a few action group volunteers. They need more volunteers however in order to achieve more for the parish in the future. Please get in touch if you would like to help by contacting the Chair Andy on 07768 276922 or the Secretary Jill Eaves at [email protected]
