Remembrance Sunday observance cancelled this year!
The traditional Remembrance Sunday observance around the war memorial in Hollins Green has been cancelled this year on the advice of Warrington Borough Council.
It was hoped that a short official ceremony could be possible but it is not to be
Rixton with Glazebrook Parish Council received advice from the Council and agreed that it should not go ahead this year because social distancingcould not be observed. For that reason also there cannot be a special service in St Helen’s Church that morning. It was hoped that a short official ceremony could be possible, but unfortunately it is not to be.
Last year’s observance at the war memorial attracted more than 400 people, the highest attendance in more than 60 years.
Parishioners are more than welcome to place wreaths at the memorial during Remembrance Sunday.
